Molten-salt tire pyrolysis process
Contec

Molten is a validated tire pyrolysis technology developed by the in-house team of engineers at Contec, in collaboration with a consortium of parties including Warsaw University of Technology. The company claims the technology is one of a kind as it is the only pyrolysis process at industrial scale that uses molten salt as a heat-transfer medium. For five years, the technology and reactor design has been developed by Contec’s team and partners to make the pyrolysis process safer and more sustainable.

According to the company, the use of a molten-salt heating system in auger-type reactors ensures unparalleled control over the temperature and the pyrolysis process residence time in the reactors. The salt is heated to its molten state in a heating tank and then pumped around the closed-loop system, providing heat to the reactor. The molten salt then returns through the heater, completing the loop. The technology was developed with repeatable, consistent quality of products in mind as a result of unparalleled process control capabilities.

Visit Contec’s booth to discover how this pyrolysis technology enables manufacturers to source sustainable raw materials from end-of-life tires, simultaneously decreasing their carbon footprint.
