Discover how AM algorithms are harnessed to create tire profiles
Marangoni Meccanica

The Strip Laminator is a powerful tool developed by Marangoni Machinery. It creates tire profiles through additive manufacturing algorithms. It models the 2D cross-section of the tire’s carcass as a simple curve and the profile applied over the carcass as a continuous function using an algorithm for filling the space between the carcass and the applied profile.

The new software version aims to solve the weaknesses of version 1.0, permitting the use of two different additive manufacturing algorithms depending on the profile structure to fill. Strip Laminator 2.0 includes several technological features such as HMI embedded, new algorithms and real-time recalculation of the application of the strips.

Marangoni Meccanica aims to introduce a recalculation based on the actual application because of the many variables that can affect the final product during the process. Thanks to 3D cameras, the tool can detect the tire’s carcass shape, adjust application errors and tune the placement with each layer application. Therefore, by controlling the application layer by layer, it is even possible to gradually correct the application to obtain a product that reflects the desired outcome.
